I've got a little idea for you guys to ponder, hear me out.

If cars had consciousness, assuming for a moment that it's %100 confirmed that they do. Consciousness mind you, not 'being alive.' How would we know?

Unlike humans and other animals, who can A: Control their own bodies, and B: Speak, Move, Or make any other kind of sign of life. Cars were never designed by us to accommodate being in themselves conscious and meta-physically alive. Cars can't move themselves, and they can't make any audible noses or signs of life. If they were conscious, they have no way of displaying it. It reminds me of humans who are comatose, or in a vegetative state. People debate over and over weather or not there's anything going on in there, weather the person is suffering or aware of what's going on. But without that person being able to show any signs of life, no one could know.

Reminds me of this horrible story I heard a while back of a man who'd fallen into a waking coma of sorts. Where he lost all control of his body, couldn't move or make a sound but he could see and hear and was completely conscious of what was going on. People assumed he was in a coma and put him in a hospital bed, this lasted a whole year. He was stuck in this bed, totally paralyzed. But he'd be awake and could see and hear family members talking to him and doctors talking about him. Finally he was able to get someone's attention by managing to blink his eyes (I believe that's what it was) someone noticed and was luckily able to decipher that he was talking to them in yes/no responses in eye blinks. (heh reminds me of a certain little Hyundai.) He later recovered from his condition, but no one knew he was conscious the whole time.

    =======================

Here's another thing to think about and consider:

If a new soul comes to inhabit a new car, even though that car doesn't grow in any way, mentally, that car is a baby car. It has a new soul, with no prior experiences, no memories, nothing. Even if souls are recycled, past lives and all that, they're all seemingly white washed of memory. So I wonder, if a car is able to at some point comprehend human speech and respond to it (like Lilly) is it that they learn human speech like a human would learn it? Simply by being around it's owners, listening to them talk and picking up on it?

There seems to be a strange separation but at the same time link between the meta-physical 'consciousness' and the brain. I'll link you guys to this video which talks about some VERY interesting things and proposes some very interesting ideas.

The ideas put forth almost treat the brain as a sort of life-long physical data-dump.. The RAM of your consciousness, storing your memories and experiences. It also has an effect on your mentality, your behavior and emotion.. obviously. But it seems like, this meta-physical consciousness also contains the your memories and experiences in a whole different immortal way. A damaged brain can in fact act like a 'bottleneck' to your consciousness. Someone with brain damage will have stunted intelligence, crazed emotions, and their mood and behavior may change.

But this video talks about several interesting occasions, where people with brain damage actually got their original intelligence, personality, behavior BACK within the final hours or minutes of their life before death. Almost as if, as their physical brains began to die and loose 'influence' over them, they'd regain their original condition which had been in their consciousness all along.

It's all very interesting and very eye opening, the stuff I talk about probably won't even sound that far fetched afterwords! If you've got about an hour and a half to kill, give this video a watch or listen.

You should! Such a pretty lil girl <3 (or boy!)

You know, that image of the Hyundai there. I can see how you can see a face there.. but to me it still just looks like this. XD

Really not sure what to think about it. I mean, are you curious if I see some sort deep meaning behind it?

I like the transformation at least, it seems like a pretty accurate morph between human and car physicality.

I like THIS one more though. X3

Two more vids for the lols:

As far as science is concerned, at this current time, consciousness as we know it cannot exist outside the brain. That's all I can say about that.

If cars or other inanimate objects were conscious we would have no way of measuring that. Therefore, for all intents and purposes, we must assume these mechanical devices are not in any way sentient. We aren't even really sure if artificial intelligence counts as consciousness. I'd put a belief like the one you're espousing on the same level as religion because it's not provable. At least, not at the moment.

Oh, and anecdotal evidence isn't empirical.

I guess, if that's how you want to have it. I'm more in the vain of 'if there's a possibility they could be, act as if just in case." Seriously, the things we do to cars (and other objects), if it ever was found out they were consciousness the moral backlash would be through the roof.

It doesn't hurt me personally to act that way, in fact it's probably made me happier to think that way. I like treating Lilly like an equal, and to baby her, and treat her like I'd treat a person. But I can understand how it'd be easier for a car owner to send their loyal car of 12 years to the crusher for a few hundred bucks when he doesn't have to think about the heartbreak his car feels about the situation and imminent terror of it's execution.... you know, just for example. : P

    That's a fair point.

You say that OS documentaries have been edited for shock value, but you gotta admit lying under a fairground ride rubbing its grease on yourself and chanting "I want your fluids, I want your fluids, I want your fluids" over and over is pretty weird, as is getting into a cringey argument with a staff member at the Checkpoint Charlie museum because they see the Berlin Wall as a symbol of oppression and you think it's great and want to have sex with it. I guess that goes for all maligned niche communities, though, the only people who think going on TV about it could possibly end well are the ones who will make everyone look weird as fuck.

Anyway how involved in the OS community are you? Because as weird as this is, cars seem like possibly the least bizarre non-anthropomorphic inanimate object to be sexually attracted to and I'm imagining the people into fences and snowglobes thinking the car guys are filthy casuals. Is it just too small a community for rifts like this to form or are most of your OS friends also car people?

Oh come on, I bet you've said some pretty weird shit to your girlfriend/boyfriend in the heat of the moment when you're in bed together too, lets not be hyper critical here.

Yeah, I personally can probably relate to you guys on that aspect. Maybe it's because I'm male and males need more visual stimulation and are all over more sexual, while girls are more emotional. Because it seems like it's a lot more of the time girls that are into buildings/bridges/fences ect. I think I need to be able to at least loosely be able to anthropomorphize the thing into something loosely human to find it attractive.

BUT, I'm talking about attractiveness here. Emotionally and 'sensing reciprocating feelings from the object/a consciousness in the object' I think everything is probably fair game. I've just never personally tried building a relationship with anything else. Lilly's my first, ask me again in 50+ years if I'm not dead, maybe I'll have branched out.

I would like to think of myself as more ACTIVE in the OS community, like Erika Eiffel who's kind of one of our main spokespeople and a big part of what made Objectum Sexual Internationale the website where OS people gather and socialize. I haven't made a website, but I'd like to think I'm working to spread the word and understanding of OS to normal folks like you guys.

That's something that bothered me a lot about the Sexwithcars forums. Everyone seemed content to just sit around in the closet and jerk off to pictures of cars. There was no activism in any of them at all.

@Half-dude Just popping in to apologize for calling your car "shit tier" earlier in the thread, in case it was one of the remarks you took offense to. It was said in jest, but I'm still unhappy that I am only capable of seeing a coffin when hearing the word "Hyundai". I have problems that need working through.

edit: I'm still reading through this thread, but has anyone brought up the "dragons fucking cars" thing? That came about from my neck of the woods. Sorry about that. Or, if you're into dragons too, you're welcome...? Either way, I apologize if it's been asked (and I'll edit this out if I find it has been), what're your thoughts on it? I'd post some sample pics but I'm at work, and I think HR would have a word with me if I searched "dragons fucking cars" while connected to their network. Beaten by @Meowthkip :c

That's not very productive. There's a possibility almost any theory or idea could be true. If that's your logic, why don't you act as if all religions are real?

    They're most likely not.

If that's how you feel. I'm just saying there isn't any basis for your theories.

...so you're saying that the grass outside my house is not actually remotely related to something resembling biological life?
Yeah, except you've overlooked one major thing: we as a collective species have actually developed a way to read the brain functions of somebody in a giant machine called the MRI. The mere act of hearing somebody in that state can be seen as triggering a process within the cerebrum and can be mapped.

...isn't that called "possession" in any other context?

I'm not getting your point given how numerous pets learn to respond to specific given commands I.E. "sit" or how you don't simply learn the words but also the idea of the tone behind them that gives them emphasis or whathaveyou.

What does this do with your argument about how your car is somehow alive without a legitimate brain, exactly?

I'm pretty sure there is a totally valid medical explanation for that given how it happens enough to be documented to the level you've been using this example for.

Reminds me of the beginning of Hitchhikers Guide where it's stated Dolphins are actually the smartest creatures on the planet and were the only ones aware of Earth's impending destruction, but their attempt to warn the humans was written off as just one reallly goddamn amazing dolphin show at seaworld or something.

That's a faulty line of logic that could be used to rationalize anything, not just supposing cars are sentient. Like, there is a possibility that Great Britain is going to suddenly betray the shit out of the US and nuke the ever living daylights out of North America, should we be preparing for that since there is a possibility of it happening, no matter how slim?

Actually, I doubt that - last I checked, Japan is still murdering the fuck out of dolphins even though it's been proven they're totally sentient to the point every breath they take is a conscious effort.

Public outcry when Japan's brutality on that front was exposed? You betcha.

Was it enough to stop it? Nope. After the initial fevor, the only constant problem Japan's rather questionable fishing industries face is whenever groups like the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society decide to start up the whale wars again and go after Japan's whaling vessels.

    Let me get this straight:

You think that cars have souls, right?

Well...I'd say the crusher is humane in that respect given the more common fate of cars from the Baby Boomer years was. Ever heard of the term "Detroit Riprap" perchance?

Hey Collie, cute fursona by the way. :)

Thanks, I appreciate that, It's been quite a healing experience seeing most of you one after another backing off from your original negative impression of me. Makes me feel a little less hated and more misunderstood. To be honest that statement didn't upset me TOO much because I... quite frankly don't get it. As for Hyundais, they've been great dependable cars in my experience.

Honestly to me, and I'm aware I'm projecting my own feelings onto this car here. But it looks so irritated probably because it's made to participate in this religious bullshit. "Here I am, lugging their pope man around, not like their religion says I'm worth a shit though.."

Sorry, I've been pretty anti-religion or at least anti-Christian since my old friend took learning about my OS worse then I expected and said simply that he wouldn't be "an enabler."

Probably, though in terms of lil' ol' me it doesn't effect my life an any negative way at all. Though with your response let me re-word what I said.

I suppose what I mean to say is that I, like everyone, am at least a bit bias. I care so much about cars, and I admit to caring about cars more then I'd care about grass or a rock.. even if I'm intellectually on the belief that anything could be conscious. I have a personal reason to gravitate towards cars in particular because my girlfriend is one.. and lol.. my aspergers dictates that they're my current fixation. XD

No??... what in that quote gave you that idea?

Hey don't knock the story teller, I'm just telling you what I heard. Maybe the hospital was shitty and didn't check him with an MRI? Maybe that's not enough for them to say he's fine. Hell if he still acted like he was in a coma and there was nothing they could do to get him out of it, they'd still treat it like a coma regardless of the MRI readings.

Lol I guess as much as whenever consciousness enters a fetus's body "possession"

Now see, you're confusing me right back with a lot of these responses, I feel like there's some kind of disconnect here.

I was making a comparison here, I'm saying maybe a car's consciousness could learn the SAME way a dog or a person would learn. Just because I omit mentioning tone of words and stuff doesn't mean I'm leaving them out of the equation.

Well did you WATCH it? I'd think you might get an idea of the answer right from the title of the video lol.

Well lets see it, I'm game.

    lol

    NO sir, no.

Seems like I shouldn't type when I'm tired. Same with Johnny Bravo up there, I kinda didn't word myself too well. I was only really referring to things that actually have some scientific evidence. I'll give you this, if Quantum Consciousness and the shit they said in that video I linked to were disproved and shown to be bullshit.. I'd probably have to forfeit my beliefs or at least continue believing them merely on faith alone.

Now I wouldn't say "believe in Santa Clause because there's a chance he really DOES exist" for example. Because there's actually more evidence for him NOT existing, and there are no credible hypothesis granting a window of possibility. Not to mention, you can actually go to the North Pole and see that there's no workshop there.

The example you used is actually a pretty bad one thuogh, because our country actually DOES prepare for the possibility of a nuclear attack, the government actually puts quite a LOT of effort into that. It's called NORAD.. : 3

Lol, well I never said that people would STOP killing cars if they found out. Just that people would be shocked and at least a percentage of people would probably feel a lot of guilt over how they treated cars in their ignorance of their intelligence. But no, no matter what it is, there will always be stick fucks that'll still do it even if it's wrong. That's just the human race for ya, we're a scum-fuck species to be honest. Though you did prove in your example that there would be an initial outcry, so thanks. :)

    Let me get this straight:

You think that cars have souls, right?

Well...I'd say the crusher is humane in that respect given the more common fate of cars from the Baby Boomer years was. Ever heard of the term "Detroit Riprap" perchance?[/QUOTE]

Consciousness yes.. that consciousnesses exists outside the brain or at least can operate in a brainless state.

...yep, that's humans for ya. Honestly yes, the crusher is probably as humane as you can kill a car. Assuming crushing it even kills it. Just as much as can be thought about how life can enter a car, just as mysterious is the thought of at what point of breaking the body down does it leave and 'die?'

Anyway yeah, I know something like that is a worse fate. As is being left out to rot.
