Because misery enjoys company. The fact that there are others just like them that they can talk to is, in all likelihood, the only thing keeping them from sticking a gun in their mouth.

Just started watching Welcome to the NHK, and I think this should be required viewing/reading for all wizards.

Maybe someone should make a webcomic named "Welcome to Hogwarts" to make fun of these folks.

Well, can you explain it to me then? Why do you still continue to discuss the beaten to death horse?
Why is it so important to let wizards know that their attempts at coping are horribly, horribly wrong as judged by some third party that likes to stalk an autistic manchild?

Freak circus comes to town, it's education time!
I am not a true wizard though, just an apprentice and failed normalfag to boot. The questions still stand, though.

Because Wizardchan constantly surprises people by beating its record lows. It's fascinating to see people praise the V-tech shooter and Elliot Rodgers, then wonder why they don't fit in with the real world. It makes for great conversation.

What we talk about these days is usually made public by Chris himself on his Facebook account. His last message directly addresses us and was intended to be read. It's hard to call that vicious cyberstalking when it's one step away from a conversation.

Well I mean, we're not mocking all of you guys.. we're mocking the people who think women are mindless, evil things who are immune to reasoning. Or people who think pedophilia is A-OK. Or the people who want all the 'normies' to die. ETC.
Any of my comments I'll gladly stand by, especially regarding social anxiety and depression since I experience that stuff myself. Personally I am not really trying to be adversarial, but sometimes the logic of some of the posters highlighted makes me pull my hair so I can get a bit emotionally charged :P

    Point about Chris taken.

The only record Wizchan now breaking is, sadly, the user influx, with all those scandals and whatnot. Any edgy post I've seen already has a dedicated topic on ED or weekly/monthly thread on 4chad's /b. But /b is somehow fiction because of a disclaimer and Wizchan is not?

Why do you think the mockery should take place? Why is it worth your emotional response?

I could say I want all humanity to go extinct, I could even put a fancy name over the thing, like The Voluntary Human Exctinction Movement (that's totally a thing, btw, right up your alley). Should I go kill myself because of it? Or hit the gym and get laid? Or just be myself?
I could be someone living in a country where age of consent is 12 and think you should totally have a little girl as your third wife, why not.
Or I could be an enterpreneur who writes books on how primitive our society is because of women and gain mad dosh while totally believing in said things.

Why is it wizardchan that must be mocked, but not the carriers of the same ideas who you can totally find without any trouble and who could be more open to criticism? What is it so special about bunch of twenty-somethings that post on anonymous imageboard with their small community?
I hope I don't sound like SJW but I am seriously not getting the whole thing.

Because people already know 4chan and ED is full of shit. You also aren't discouraged from calling people out on it.

If you go to 4chan and say some tough guy, too cool for the Internet bullshit you get called out on it and people spam your thread with gore. If you go on Wizardchan and say you want all normie scum to die or piss in a bottle, and then someone says "that's retarded", they get banned for discouraging NEET lifestyle.

The difference is environment, and while 4chan and ED swims in their own incontinence to the point where you can't tell what's real anymore, Wizardchan constantly tries to persecute posters for being "normies" (a word hilarious enough to warrant a post entirely dedicated to it). People criticizing them is alarming enough to open discussion for shit like, moving to Tor or restricting site access to people who can figure out to clear their user agent string out of the request headers.

This isn't the "Chris and Wizardchan Laugh Factory". You're in one big thread out of dozens of big threads. There's thousands of posts and discussions going on and dozens are active at any one time. We have 3 other subforums for people entirely distinct from Chris. Various groups and individuals, websites and phenomenon.

Wizardchan's thread has been enduring for months for a bunch of reasons.

    1) Its boards are a reliable source of "what the fuck" material.
    2) Events like Elliot Rodgers spring up that edgy shit you're talking about all over the place.
    3) People come here from there.

The most recent event that's reminded us all Wizardchan exists is the Zoe Quinn shit, and while I'm sure you guys are already well aware of that, what I'd like to point out is this:

    1) The author of this image appears to be defending Wizardchan.
    2) The author is deflecting onto CWCki Forums.
    3) The author appears to not like the CWCki Forums a lot
    4) The author said something very close to what you just did.

But most important, and most incriminating about this image, is that it features a post from this thread from November 2013. And the most interesting part? It was taken before the March 5th switch from PHPBB to XenForo. What does that tell us?

    1) This person has been following the Wizardchan thread for months.
    2) This person is screencapping posts from here.
    3) This person took a screenshot of that post before March 5th, well before Depression Quest existed as a concept.
    4) The person who took this screenshot also: defends wizardchan, deflects onto the cwcki forums, doesn't like the cwcki forums, and thinks we're stalkers that harass retards.

    Oh dang.

That is one big implication that hangs in the air, so I'll spell it out how I see it: are you implying I am the person, who made this image (and, consequently, the whole set)? I know, that profile creation date is a weak argument, because registration is free, I'll just have to tell you with all honesty that I am not the implied person. I was unaware of both Wizardchan and CWCki until May, 2014.

Even though I partially agree with the position of that anonymous poster (the whole irony part), I think it is much more interesting to learn why people do what they do. That's why I came here, that's why I ask questions. If you think I am too aggressive about it, you can tell me, I'll think more about it and formulate them in more appropriate manner.

    Now onto the answer part.

I've sincerely believed that all anonymous imageboards are a subject to this because of their nature - you can post whatever you want and can't be held responsible for it. Be it 4chan or Wizchan, I thought, contest of having piss-bottles is equally non-related to real life: even though one or two posters may have troubles with visiting their bathroom, the rest are surely posting fiction.

You are taking it more seriosly, though.

Actually, the voluntary human extinction people have a thread here. We just haven't discussed 'em in a while because there was insufficient interest, the board moves fast and so on.
I can't say what exactly the, uh, appeal is for anyone here-- not even myself, since I don't really go hunting for threads to post up here. I just kinda stop by and give my two cents if I think I can actually say something worthwhile or snarky.. or both, I guess.
Again just speaking for myself, but I think the only people who should kill themselves are the scum of the earth: You know, the typical serial killers, pedophiles, that sort of thing. Some guy with depression and skewed opinions on how the world works who idly wishes death on others? Go for it. But if you harm someone, only then do you make my shit-list. You should do what you want, since ultimately it's your life and nobody else's. No one can make you what you are-- whatever the 'what' may be--, that has to come from within.
As for the "people we can find without trouble" bit, not to be rude but you guys don't exactly take many measures to hide your board from outsiders. You're as open as any place.. heck, you're moreso than this forum as we have more than a few boards which guests cannot view. Wizardchan is accessible, it's fairly prolific and while it's not something people might openly admit, I think we (as in those who discuss your fine board) all see a little of ourselves in some of you folks. I know I do.

Oh, late edit but I like the reference in your name and avatar :) I'm more a 'descending bear' type of guy, though.

No, I'm not finger pointing you. I was explaining why Wizardchan stays up in people's interests over the voluntary human extinction thing.

As for the second point, I don't know really how to respond. You're basically telling me that a lot of Wizardchan is a big joke and I see nothing that indicates that.

Well fortunately you've answered your own question nicely later on in this very post.

You've hit two nails on the head.

    1. - "Why is it wizardchan that must be mocked, but not the carriers of the same ideas who you can totally find without any trouble and who could be more open to criticism?"

You said it, they certainly are not open to any kind of criticism. Unlike some of the other examples you listed, Wizarchan goes out of its way now to prevent any form of countering opinion. So much to the point where there has to be TWENTY ONE RULES just to cover all of the emotional wizard triggers. If there wasn't such a big emphasis on a race to the bottom and competing to be the biggest wizard, maybe there wouldn't be so much interest in it here. Other communities focused on depression do nothing of the sort and encourage reaching out rather than banning and censoring it.

    2. "I hope I don't sound like SJW but I am seriously not getting the whole thing."

Brilliant. You have led right into my second point. Wizards ARE SJWs now. There are so many parallels with other SJW communities that censor, form victim complexes, and end up picking each other apart when their aren't enough enemies around. They turn on each other because they want to constantly fight. And because they have banned and censored all unpopular opinions there is no one to turn vicious towards but themselves. The anonymous environment amplifies this effect exponentially as well.
I love anonymous imageboards, but once you have the power of anonymity on top of such strict censorship and posting policy, it turns to that persecution and finger pointing issue both Null and I have mentioned. Users have the ability to get each other banned and bait one another, and this 'wizard image' will only get exaggerated more and more to exploit this.

    *cough* :glaive:

Watching the wizards isn't some campaign, where we measure effort against what we hope to achieve. The emotional response is natural, spontaneous, and effortless.

On these forums there is thread after thread examining those with perspectives bizarrely different from what is typical. Observing allows us to glimpse the world through a lens we could not have invented. I come here because I always see something I could never have imagined for myself.

The attitude of the inhabitants of wizardchan is just laughably unhealthy. We may as well have a laugh. As with many things, this is preferable to always being horrified and disappointed.

Fiction, not a joke. There's a bit of difference as I see it.
I think one-upping contest was mentioned by Glaive at some point, oh, here it is. It is not a joke, but the posters aren't being sincere either.

It's just that some of the posters could be diagnosed with a bunch of psychological problems. And they often are. No one usually laughs at depressed people.
